Half-way through summer break, parents and caregivers may already be planning trips, making doctors' appointments and scheduling other activities during the coming school year. 

The Montclair Board of Education approved the attached 2013-14 school calendar, which is also available on the district website. 

Here are important dates you need to know:

First Day for Students
Monday, Sept. 9

Curriculum Meetings
Early Dismissal, Thursdays, Oct. 17, Nov. 14, Jan. 9, Feb. 6, March 6, April 3, May 1 and June 5

NJEA Teacher Convention
Schools Closed, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 7 and 8

Thanksgiving Break

Early Dismissal, Wednesday, Nov. 27
Schools Closed, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29

K-12 Parent Conferences
Early Dismissal, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Dec. 11-13, March 20-21

Winter Break
Early Dismissal, Monday, Dec. 23
Schools Closed, Dec. 24 through Jan. 1

Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Schools Closed, Monday, Jan. 20

Presidents Weekend
Schools Closed, Monday and Tuesday, Feb.  17 and 18. Feb. 19 schools closed for Teachers Workshops.

Good Friday
Schools Closed, Friday, April 18

Spring Break
Schools Closed, Monday-Friday, April 21-25

Memorial Day Weekend
Schools Closed, Friday, May 23 and Monday, May 26

End of School
Early Dismissal, Friday, June 20
Last Day, Monday, June 23

According to the calendar, if more than three emergency or snow days are used, additional days will be made up as full days on May 23, Feb. 19, Feb. 18 and Feb. 17.
