Montclair Woman Indicted on Manslaughter Charges in Boyfriend's Fatal Stabbing

Felicia Williams is being held for the January stabbing of Herbert Spriggs III.

A 38-year-old Montclair woman was indicted Monday on charges she fatally stabbed her live-in boyfriend in January, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. 

Felicia Williams was indicted on charges of aggravated manslaughter for the killing of 47-year-old Herbert Spriggs III, on Jan. 13 in the home they shared, at 285 Claremont Ave.

The two were reportedly arguing around 1:30 a.m. that day when Williams allegedly stabbed Spriggs once with a knife, according to the prosecutor’s office. Spriggs then drove himself to Mountainside Hospital, but died later that morning from his wounds.

Williams is being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility on $250,000 bail.  

The home on Claremont Avenue is situated on a busy suburban street in the heart of Montclair, and blocks away from the township’s municipal building and a church.
