After the Montclair resident called police, they spotted the driver traveling south on Grove Street at a high rate of speed at about 2:30 p.m. The suspect eventually made his way out of Montclair and into Glen Ridge, turning onto Sherman Street, which is a one-way street.
As officers approached Sherman Street, residents began pointing to a house at the end of the block. The officers found the suspect, and his car, and took him into custody.

The car was full of all sorts of merchandise. That led detectives to follow a trail of empty boxes that were left behind by the suspect as he went from one home to another taking packages that were left by UPS.
A loaded starter pistol that was the same size, shape and color of a real .25 Cal hand gun was found in the car. The orange plug in the barrel had been colored black to further the illusion of the weapon being authentic.
The actor was identified as follows:
Darrick Green, a 34-year-old West Orange man. Green was charged with the following:
6 counts of Theft of Moveable Property
6 counts of Criminal Trespass
Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose
This investigation is ongoing and more charges may apply.
