Police: Man Shot in Leg on Mission Street

Montclair Police investigating several leads in two shootings which happened over the weekend.

A 25-year-old man who was shot in the leg in Montclair Saturday night has been released from the hospital, Montclair Police Det. Lt. Angel Roman said Monday.

The man, Roman said, was found with a gunshot wound to the leg on Mission Street at about 11:28 p.m. after police responded to reports of gunshots heard in the neighborhood. The man was taken to Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge and later released.

Several shell casings were found in the area, Roman said.

Just blocks away, another man was shot on Greenwood Avenue in Montclair on Friday night. The man was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he was listed in critical condition.

Roman said Monday the victim was still in the hospital and in "guarded condition."

He said police were investigating several leads in both shootings.
