Popular Puerto Rican Restaurant In Montclair To Shut Down

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A popular Puerto Rican restaurant in Montclair will close its doors for business next month, according to the owner.

In a social media post, Cocina Candela announced it would shut down on Dec. 12. The restaurant is located at 706 Bloomfield Avenue.

"Cocina Candela has been a labor of love. We have poured every ounce of ourselves into it and hope that we gave our wonderful customers meals and experiences that they enjoyed and will remember," a portion of the post read.

The owner, Kenny Candelaria, told NorthJersey.com that his lease expires in December and his landlord did not want to extend it.

Candelaria said he plans to reopen somewhere else in the near future.
