The questionable object is still being investigated by police.

Parts of the Montclair State University campus remained closed Thursday as authorities continued to investigate an unidentifiable object, possibly an explosive device, found on Wednesday.
Although the campus maintained its normal schedule, an area near the Red Hawk Diner was closed off to students and faculty.

During construction, workers discovered an unidentifiable object Wednesday afternoon on the MSU campus, one that's still being investigated by law enforcement officials, said Suzanne Bronski, a spokesperson for MSU.
"The campus has not been evacuated and no one's been injured," she said Wednesday. "There was no explosion."

But, according to The Montclair Times, the uncovered object is a possible explosive device.
The newspaper quoted Bill Maer, a spokesman for the Passaic County Sherff's Department, as saying that the suspected explosive was not believed to be part of a criminal act or an act of terrorism. He said officials were trying to figure out how to dispose of the device.
A few buses on the campus have been rerouted and faculty have been asked to turn off their cell phones when in the area of the Red Hawk Diner.
Montclair State University kicked off the new academic year with a variety of opening day activities on Tuesday.
More information will be reported as it becomes available.
