Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church to Celebrate 75th Year at 'Forever Friends' Program

On September 28 at 3:00 p.m. , all are invited to join in a service to commemorate 75 years of service to God and community.

The Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church Deacons Ministry invites all to attend its “Forever Friends” program commemorating the church’s 75th year of service to God and community. The event will be held at the church, 27 Monroe Place in Montclair, beginning at 3:30 p.m. and will be followed by light refreshments and a fellowship period. The Rev. Elizabeth Jackson Campbell is pastor of the church.

The theme for the service is “Following the Path of the Way. Moving Forward with Intentional Faith. It will highlight relationships built and connections forged since the church was established in 1938 by the late Rev. James A. Jackson, founding pastor, along with his leadership team. At his death, he was succeeded as pastor by his wife, the late Rev. Myrtle C. Jackson.

Individuals, churches and organizations from throughout the state will offer music, vocal selections, sacred dance, testimonies, words of remembrance, prayers of praise and more. Participants will include bell ringers and singers from the Good News Home for Women in Flemington and youth choirs from New Calvary Baptist Church, Montclair and Shiloh Baptist Church, West Orange. The wide range of celebrants also includes praise dance groups from the Citadel of Hope Worship Center, Passaic and the First Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Newark.

“We are gratified to have so many joining with us on September 28 us as we celebrate this milestone and thank God for his many blessings over the past 75 years,” said Calvin Jackson, chair of the Deacons Ministry. “We honor those who have passed on, we celebrate our accomplishments, and we look forward with confidence as God empowers us to move forward with great faith, great intention, great commitment and great action as we work to do his will in the world,”Jackson noted.
