A concerned citizen acting on the motto “see something, say something” resulted in the arrest of a Newark man carrying a gun loaded with hollow point bullets near Lackawanna Plaza early Sunday morning, police said.

Montclair Police Detective Lt. Angel Roman said a driver who was getting gas at the Exxon station at the corner of Bloomfield Avenue and Grove Street called police to report a man carrying a silver gun with black trim walking with a woman toward Lackawanna Plaza.

The man was identified as Tyrone McGill, 27, of Newark, a convicted felon. McGill faces numerous charges, including unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a defaced weapon and possession of hollow point bullets, Roman said.
