Montclair’s Ottis Wright placed seventh in his 160 weight class on Sunday at the state wrestling championships at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Wright beat out Robert Schlitt of Haddonfield in a 9-2 that saw the Montclair grappler outmuscle his opponent.
“That guy ... he was pretty strong,” Schlitt said of Wright’s performance in the match. “I have to get stronger to wrestle at this level. I learned a lesson for next year.”

After losing to Ryan Harrington of West Morris on Saturday, the Montclair senior bounced back, besting Anthony Dawson of Paulsboro in a 9-4 decision. A loss to Kalyph Harby of Central Regional put Wright in his match with Schlitt on Sunday, and the rest is history.
Wright won his second Essex County title earlier in the year after starting his 2010-11 season on an 8-0 hot streak.
