Montville Student to Perform in National Choir in Nashville

Montville has plenty to be proud of. 

Montville Township High School has been recognized with top honors at the FBLA National Conference, according to the district.

On the agenda for the school board’s Tuesday meeting, the board will recognize accomplishments from several district students and staff.

Here’s a look at some achievements going on in the district:

• MTHS' Timothy Shim was accepted to the All-National Honor Choir Ensemble. This group, which students have to audition and be selected to, will be singing in Nashville in October.
• Lindsey Danilack, daughter of 5th grade teacher Mark Danilack, has been named First Captain of the 4,400 member Corp of Cadets at West Point Military Academy. She has the distinction of being the fourth woman to serve as first captain. Lindsay is a Valley View graduate and a 2010 MTHS graduate. She speaks to the Valley View 5th graders each year about leadership, citizenship, and the West Point Code.
• Karin Simeone, 6th grade science teacher, was named a “New Jersey Science Teachers’ Association Simmons Scholar” for work in promoting excellence and motivation in science teaching. She will be recognized at the NJ Science Convention in October for her achievement.

On July 25, Paterson, who is a member of Pathways Rock Band, was invited by Kevin Jonas to play and sing “Burning Up” on the PNC stage with the Jonas Brothers during their sound check party.

“It was an unbelievable night for the Rock Band and an example to how diversity empowers children to do great things when they have a similar passion,” said Melinda Jennis, Director of Pathways.

“Kudos to Melissa, the Pathways Rock Band and the Jonas Brothers,” said the district in a board agenda. Pathways is a Montville-based rock band that brings together student mentors with students who have disabilities.
