Squeeze in the Stage During the Holidays

With Christmas falling on Saturday, there aren't a lot of events happening around the area that day. However, that doesn't mean there aren't some fun things taking place this weekend. 1. —A production of "" is currently being shown at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in Madison. The production is a romantic comedy, which has been a beloved mainstay of the British stage since it was first produced. The event listing says the 1930s coming-of-age classic is perfect for family audiences. Shows are being held on Friday and Sunday at 2 p.m., with a second one on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
2. See Santa Outside—You can always see Santa at the mall. Here's your chance to see him at a different spot: a gazebo. Head to the gazebo in Chatham at 1 Firehouse Plaza on Friday at 2 p.m. for an event that promises "a fun treat for the whole family as Santa makes a visit to downtown."
3. Catch a Holiday Film Classic—The Montville Township Public Library is putting on a screening of "White Christmas" Friday at 1:30 p.m. The movie is part of the library's Friday Afternoon Programming for Adults, which has a fun holiday twist this time around.
4. The New Jersey Ballet's Nutcracker—If you haven't seen it yet, there are three different opportunities this weekend to see this performance, celebrating its 40th year, at the Community Theater at Mayo Center for the Performing Arts in Morristown. On Friday and Sunday, you can see shows at 1 p.m., while a second show will be held on Sunday at 6 p.m. If you haven't seen this holiday classic, here's your chance. 5. Take a Nature Walk—Sometimes it's nice to head outside and take a breath of the crisp winter air. The Environmental Education Center on Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge will be hosting a nature walk on Sunday, starting at noon. The event is free, and pre-registration is not required. The walk will last approximately an hour.
