Unity Bank Financing Supports Opening of Wood Stack in Montville

MONTVILLE, N.J. (June 12, 2014) – Unity Bank has provided a construction loan toCharlie and Giuseppe Badalamenti of Springfield to finance the opening of their third New Jersey restaurant, Wood Stack Pizza & Cucina, to be located at 29 Route 46 East in the Pine Brook section of the township.

“Our goal for Wood Stack is to have the best wood-fired pizza and Italian food in New Jersey,” said Charlie Badalamenti. “My brother, Joey, and I are very passionate about the food and drinks we’re going to serve at Wood Stack and we wanted to build something new from the ground-up. We wanted to open in a town we were willing to make a long term commitment to and we felt Montville was ideal because it has been named one of Money magazine’s top 20 places to live in the U.S. three times since 2007. Wood Stack is also close to a variety of businesses and a great residential neighborhood so we expect to be very busy for both lunch and dinner.”

Unity Bank’s financing has enabled the Badalamentis to acquire the property and liquor license of the former Sevilla Spain Restaurant. The new 7,000-square-foot restaurant, which will have 30 to 50 employees, is being renovated and will open in the late Fall.

“We have been Unity Bank customers for 15 years,” said Badalamenti, “and we would like to consider it a mutually beneficial relationship. We have been very pleased with the service we have received.”

Wood Stack’s decor will have an industrial feel, including exposed brick, wood, concrete and duct work. The design will emphasize a comfortable, urban theme while serving simple yet refined cuisine.

“The Badalamentis really are an American success story and it has been a pleasure to work with them for many years,” said Unity Bank President & CEO James A. Hughes. “They have been in the restaurant business for nearly 20 years so we are confident their latest venture will be a huge success.”

The Badalamentis were born to Sicilian immigrants in Brooklyn, N.Y. who relocated to Union. The brothers graduated from Union High School. They also own Novita Bistro and Lounge, a fine dining restaurant in Metuchen, and Glendale’s Pizzeria-Ristorante in Union.
