Volunteers Turn Montville Teal for Ovarian Cancer
Blue ribbons tied to trees around town to spread awareness of disease.
is turning teal again this month in honor of ovarian cancer.
Volunteers from the Key Club and have tied teal-colored ribbons around trees and posts throughout the community to spread awareness of the disease. Jeneene Norman said September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and the ribbons will hang through the end of the month during the "Turn the Towns Teal!" campaign.
"This awareness campaign is so important because there is currently no early detection test for ovarian cancer, so awareness of the symptoms is the most critical factor in fighting the disease," Norman said.

"Turn the Towns Teal!" was inspired by Gail MacNeil, of Chatham.
Norman said signs are placed near the ribbons to explain the significance of the ribbons. The volunteers also distribute cards explaining the symptoms of ovarian cancer to several women's organizations throughout the township in September.
