3 Pedestrians Killed In South Jersey Weekend Crash: State Police

A driver hit another car and three pedestrians in an early-morning crash Saturday, New Jersey State Police said. The pedestrians died.

WOODLAND TOWNSHIP, NJ — Three pedestrians died after being hit by a car on a rural South Jersey road over the weekend, state police said.

At around 11:25 p.m. on Saturday, the driver of a Nissan Maxima was traveling northbound on Chatsworth Barnegat Road (CR 532) in Woodland Township. The driver rear-ended a Fort Mustang also traveling northbound, a New Jersey State Police spokesperson told Patch.

The Nissan also hit three pedestrians, police said.

The pedestrians — Dion Cardell, 50, of Browns Mills (Burlington County), Michael Stull, 46, of Hamilton (Mercer County), and Brian Blaszka, 36, of Forked River (Ocean County) — all sustained fatal injuries, the spokesperson said.

The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries and the driver of the Nissan did not report any injuries. It was not immediately clear if any charges were filed as a result of the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police said.
