Moorestown Public Schools Reopen Friday, Open on Election Day
Parents are encouraged to drive their children to school, as some bus routes are still blocked and wires still down around town.

All six Moorestown public schools will be back in session Friday.
The district has been shut down all week due to the downed trees and wires across town, closed roads and power outages, and the fact that Roberts Elementary School lost power during the storm. Structurally, the school buildings weathered Hurricane Sandy just fine, Superintendent Brian Betze said.
A statement on the district's Facebook page reads: "We have a list of spots from the police where roads are blocked and/or wires are down. All wires are cold but extra precaution needs to be taken if walking to school. Parents are encouraged to drive their children to school. If your road is blocked and the bus is unable to drive down your street, please move to the nearest intersection for pickup."

School will also be in session next Tuesday, Nov. 6, Election Day. Originally scheduled as a staff in-service day, it was changed to a regular school day to make up for the days missed this week, Betze said.
Although the New Jersey Education Association Convention—originally scheduled for Nov. 8 and 9 in Atlantic City—has been cancelled due to the devastion across the state, and Atlantic City in particular, the district will remain closed on those dates.
"Staff and administration are willing to come in those days, but we believe too many students will be away," read the district's statement. "We need 70 percent attendance for a school day to count, so chances are good we would not meet that standard either of those two days."
