Born in Pittston, PA, a coal mining town in Luzerne County, later moving with her parents & two brothers to South Philadelphia, North Philadelphia then to Maple Shade, NJ. She then resided in Pennsauken where she raised her two sons and gained lifelong friends. Alice was employed by Elkins-Sinn in Cherry Hill where she gained more lifelong friends before retiring and moving to Sicklerville to be close to her grandchildren.
Affectionately known as “Dolly” to many of her close friends & family, she brought light, infectious laughter & beautiful smiles wherever she went. She was genuinely sweet & kind-hearted and would do anything for those she loved.

Alice enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She traveled to Jamaica for her son, Glenn’s (Victoria) wedding and since that was her very first time on an airline flight, she was invited to the cockpit to meet the Pilot. She enjoyed summer vacations in Wildwood Crest, and an annual December trip to Hershey Park with her grandchildren staying at the Hersey Lodge and enjoying breakfast with Santa. Some of Alice’s real passions in life was being a devoted Mom-mom to her grandchildren, taking them to parks, on walks when they were younger, dancing and singing with them in the house and even out in the street with their friends as they got older. She had a keen sense of humor, loved playing pranks on others. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Daughter of the late Charles Alexander and Helen Schmalzle, she is survived by her loving sons, Glenn Martin, his wife Victoria, George Martin, his wife Lisa. her two beautiful grandchildren, Nick (Marissa) & Lindsey, and her great-granddaughter, Aletheia, who she recently met, held & laughed with; her brother, Jack Alexander (who quoted “perfect sister”); nieces, a nephew and many beloved friends. Always remembered, never forgotten.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30am, on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Our Lady of Good Council Parish, 42 W. Main St., Moorestown, NJ. Visitation Wed. from 9 – 10 am at the Lewis Funeral Home, 78 E. Main St. Moorestown, NJ. Interment will be private.
