5 Things To Do Around Morris County This Weekend

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — The Wharton Carnival, outdoor concerts and the return of the New Jersey State Fair. If you're ready to leave home, there's plenty to do around Morris County this weekend. Here are five activities.
Wharton Carnival
Festivities run from Thursday through Sunday at MacKinnon Middle School. Organizers hired Ace Amusements, which has been in business for more than 40 years, to bring rides, food and games to the carnival. Themed nights include Rock n' Rock Night, Spirit Night, Latin Night and Family Fun Day. Find more info here.

Outdoor Book Sale
Whether you need some summer reading or just like to add to your shelves, the Chester Library has you covered. The Friends of the Chester Library will host an outdoor book sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The event raises money for the library's short- and long-range projects. Bring the kids to Ort Farms for an afternoon outdoors at 3 p.m. Friday. The farm will have a snack, visit the arm animals, play on the lawn and then pick a few tomatoes to take home. Adult tickets are not necessary, only participating children need tickets. Find more info and get tickets here.
The series continues with performances at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sundays on Mt. Hope Road. This week, catch Davey and the Waverunners — a Jimmy Buffet tribute band. Find more info here.
New Jersey State Fair
Venture out to the Sussex County Fairgrounds for an annual tradition returning to the Garden State. Held annually at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, the Fair and Farm and Horse Show celebrates 81 years in the community this year. The fair runs from Saturday to Aug. 14.
