64 Morris Co. Residents Lost On 9/11 Remembered In Ceremony

The 64 residents were remembered at a ceremony 18 years after the terrorist attacks.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The 64 Morris County residents who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks were remembered at a weekend ceremony.

The 18th Annual Remembrance ceremony was held on Sunday at the Morris County September 11th Memorial in Parsippany. Alison Crowther and Honor Fagan, the mother and sister of Welles Crowther, known as "the man in the red bandanna," spoke at the event. Expedito C. Santillan, the father of Morris Plain's Maria Theresa Santillan, was the flag bearer.

The names of all 64 Morris County residents who died that day were read aloud, followed by a candlelight vigil, an invocation by Pastor Sidney Williams of Morristown's Bethel AME Church, musical selections by the Morris Choral Society, and the Police Pipes and Drums of Morris County.

"We gather here this evening to as a vivid reminder of the importance of occurred 18 years ago and to remember those who perished and their loved ones, and to let them know that WE WILL NEVER FORGET," Freeholder Director Doug Cabana said.
