Art Garfunkel Cancels Morristown Show
Oct. 5 show one of several of iconic singer's performances recently nixed or postponed.

Sounds of silence will be heard at the Mayo Performing Arts Center Friday, but not the kind those expecting to see Art Garfunkel's performance had in mind, as the music legend has cancelled the appearance due to illness.
Ed Kirchdoerffer, general manager for the theater, said refunds will be given to everyone who purchased tickets, which ranged from $52 to $97. The event will not be rescheduled.
The 70-year-old singer best known for his collaborations with Paul Simon in the 1960s postponed five shows in September, including an Atlantic City performance on Sept. 14, according to his website. In addition to Garfunkel's Oct. 5 cancellation in Morristown, an Oct. 6 performance in Pennsylvania also has been cancelled. The Standard Speaker newspaper of Hazelton, Pa., wrote that it was voice problems that led to the cancellations.
