Billy Club Found In Morristown Man's Possession After DUI Stop: Police
Possessing a billy club, or nightstick, is prohibited outside of a law enforcement capacity according to state law.
DENVILLE, NJ — A Morristown man was arrested last week after driving intoxicated and possessing a prohibited weapon, according to the Denville Police Department.
On June 10, around 8:15 p.m., Denville police responded to a call regarding a possible drunk driver on Route 46 near Franklin Road.
Police pulled over a car that matched their vehicle description, which was being driven by Ronald C. Roccasecca, 62, of Morristown, police said.

Police determined that Roccasecca was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs while behind the wheel, officials said. Additionally, police found a billy club, also known as a nightstick or baton, in his possession, according to authorities.
Billy clubs are illegal in New Jersey, falling under the same category as brass knuckles, switchblades, and other melee weapons, according to state law 2C:39-3e. They are not to be owned or used outside of a law enforcement capacity.

Roccasecca was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and issued “numerous motor vehicle summonses.”
He was released from custody and is awaiting court proceedings, according to officials.
