MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — If you enjoy a good deal, you should go to Christmas Tree Shops soon. The retailer intends to close all of its stores, including its sole Morris County location.

Christmas Tree Shops recently filed papers in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware indicating that going-out-of-business sales would begin at all the chain's stores.

Christmas Tree Shops in Rockaway is located at 327 Mt Hope Avenue, inside the Rockaway Townsquare shopping mall.

The sales could begin as soon as Thursday after the company defaulted on the loan funding its bankruptcy, according to the Wall Street Journal. Potential buyers have until then to object to the liquidation sales.

Christmas Tree Shops has 10 stores in New Jersey — the most of any state besides Massachusetts and New York.

The Massachusetts-based chain initially filed for bankruptcy in May following the collapse of its parent company, per Patch reporting.

In 1970, the first Christmas Tree Shops opened in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. New Jersey-based Bed Bath & Beyond acquired the chain in 2003 and opened stores in the Garden State three years later.

Bed Bath & Beyond, which declared bankruptcy in April, sold Christmas Tree Shops in November 2020 to Handil Holdings.
