Firefighter Injured During Training Exercise In Morris County
The firefighter injured during a training exercise in Hanover Township remains in serious but stable condition, officials said.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A firefighter is recovering in serious but stable condition after being injured during a training exercise in Hanover Township, authorities confirmed.
The firefighter, a member of Hanover Township Fire District 2, was injured during a routine training exercise on the evening of Tuesday, May 6, officials confirmed.
According to the fire department, the injury occurred around 8:47 p.m. during a drill at the Hanover Public Works Complex on North Jefferson Road. On-site emergency personnel responded immediately.

The firefighter, whose identity has not been released, was promptly taken to Morristown Medical Center for treatment and remains in serious but stable condition, surrounded by family and colleagues, the department said on social media.
"The safety and well-being of our firefighters is always our top priority," Fire Chief Paul Perrello said. "We are closely monitoring our colleague's condition and will ensure he receives the best possible care. We are also reviewing the incident thoroughly to understand exactly what occurred and to reinforce our commitment to the highest safety standards in all training operations."

The firefighter continues to receive medical care and is surrounded by family and fellow department members, Perrello added.
