Free Holiday Meals To Be Distributed In Morristown
The Salvation Army will hold a Thanksgiving community drive-thru to provide free Thanksgiving meals to the surrounding community.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — A Thanksgiving community drive-thru will be held by The Salvation Army in Morristown during the holiday season to serve the neighborhood's residents free Thanksgiving dinners.
On Nov. 21, the Morristown Corps will host a Community Fall Fair with food distribution from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Morris County is home to more than 30,000 families who struggle with food insecurity, according to the New Jersey Department of Health. Being food insecure refers to not always having enough food for everyone in the household.

Because of the ongoing rise in inflation and other economic pressures, many people find it difficult to make ends meet, let alone enjoy the holiday, so The Salvation Army New Jersey Division is continuing its longstanding practice of giving those in need Thanksgiving meals.
"Thanksgiving is looking grim for thousands of families and individuals this year, as the cost of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner is expected to be 13.5 percent more than last year, and the price of turkey alone is going up 73 percent," The Salvation Army said.

Through a variety of social services, The Salvation Army annually assists more than 23 million Americans in overcoming poverty, addiction, and financial hardships.
The Salvation Army is doing the most good at its 7,600 locations nationwide by giving food to the hungry, immediate aid to victims of disasters, rehabilitation to those who abuse drugs and alcohol, and clothing and shelter to those in need.
