Judge OKs Atlantic Health System's Acquisition Of Hackettstown Hospital

More than two years after offer, partnership to become official in next few weeks.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Already the top healthcare network in northern New Jersey with a variety of medical facilities under its umbrella, Atlantic Health System will now become the parent company of Hackettstown Regional Medical Center.

After more than two years of back-and-forth to finalize the acquisition, Judge Thomas Miller approved the move Wednesday, March 16, paving the way for Hackettstown – formerly owned by Adventist Healthcare – to join Morristown, Newton, and Chilton Medical Centers in the network.

“Atlantic Health System and Adventist HealthCare are extremely pleased that Superior Court Judge Thomas C. Miller has approved the transfer of ownership of Hackettstown Regional Medical Center,” Atlantic Health said in a statement Thursday. “Both organizations have been working together diligently to prepare for HRMC to become part of Atlantic Health System’s Trusted Network of Caring™. Following the recommendation by the Attorney General earlier this month, the judge’s decision marks the last regulatory step in the process, and moves us closer to a closing by both organizations, which we anticipate will occur in a few weeks.”
