MORRISTOWN, NJ — Many of us celebrate July 4th with hot dogs, cold drinks and fireworks, but why not preface that with some history? The Morris County Historical Society is hosting its 7th annual hike along Patriot's Path on July 4th to the archeological site of Powder Mill.

Hikers can learn about the role Powder Mill played in the Revolutionary War, and plans for its future. The site was unearthed and documented by the Historical Society in the late-1960s, when the route for Route 287 was being mapped out.

The free hike will start at Acorn Hall (68 Morris Ave), and will follow Patriot's Path about a quarter of a mile. Two hikes are being offered, one at 11 a.m. and one at 2 p.m. For more information, call MCHS at 973-267-3465 or visit the MCHS website: MorrisCountyHistory.org.
