Livingston Man Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison For Domestic Violence Incident: Prosecutor
Donald Ebert, 58, received four years for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and 3 years for weapons possession, authorities said.

MORRISTOWN, N.J.– A Livingston man on Friday was sentenced to 7 years in prison stemming from a domestic violence incident, authorities said.
Donald Ebert, 58, received four years for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and 3 years for weapons possession, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Investigations John Speirs said in a joint news release.
Ebert admitted to illegally possession a handgun and striking a former girlfriend in the head with the weapon on Feb. 1, 2013 in Morristown, according to Knapp.

He admitted that the gun fired twice during the incident, Knapp said.
The ex ended up with a wound and was treated at Morristown Medical Center, according to the prosecutor.

Ebert fled and was later arrested at his Livingston home, where he barricaded himself inside for nearly 6 hours, Knapp said.
Ebert pleaded guilty to the charges on Oct. 16 of last year, Knapp said.
The Morristown, Florham Park, East Hanover, Livingston and Belleville police departments, as well as West Orange First Aid, the Morris County Sheriff's Office and Morris County Prosecutor's Office's Domestic Violence Unit assisted.
"Domestic violence is an extremely serious problem in our society," Knapp said. "This office will continue protecting victims of domestic violence, ensuring their rights are protected and that perpetrators of abhorrent acts such as this defendant are prosecuted to the fullest extent possible."
