Morristown Looks To Ax Registration Fees For Taxi Companies

Town council introduces ordinance that would eliminate $200 annual payment as businesses compete with Uber, report says.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – In an attempt to financially aid the long-serving taxi companies of Morristown, the town council this week introduced an ordinance that would waive registration fees to help the businesses compete with Uber.

According to morristowngreen.com, those fees are $200 annually for taxi companies, and the council voted 5-0 in favor to introduce the measure.

Uber, the unregulated ride-sharing service, is available anywhere a background-checked driver is willing to transport riders. Users can pull up an app on their phone and have a driver available to them – with an already set cost – in a matter of minutes.
