Morristown Man Accused Of Burglarizing Cars In Morris, Passaic Counties

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A Morristown man is among three people accused of being involved in a car burglary ring that has been operating since at least May across Morris and Passaic counties, police announced.

According to Wayne Township police, the crimes were committed across Morris and Passaic counties, and an investigation has led police to three suspects.

The investigation launched on May 16, when Wayne police responded to a car burglary call near Wayne’s Pines Lake area. Footage acquired by police showed suspects attempting to burglarize several cars in the area, with two attempts proving successful.

Investigators informed neighboring municipalities of the crimes, and East Hanover police advised that the same suspects had committed burglaries in their jurisdiction. Additionally, Elizabeth police impounded one of the suspects’ vehicles after a motor vehicle stop.

Chelsea Taylor, a 24-year-old from Parlin, was the driver of the impounded vehicle and was questioned by East Hanover detectives.

Taylor admitted to driving Jordan Ali, 29, of Morristown, around residential areas to burglarize several vehicles, according to authorities. Police added that some of the Wayne burglary attempts were caught on camera, and Ali was wearing the same clothing worn during the East Hanover burglaries.

Taylor also admitted that the car’s owner, Nyasia Campbell, 23, of Long Branch, “knowingly allowed” the pair to use her car and cell phone to commit the crimes, police said. In exchange, Ali and Taylor would buy her food, pay her phone bills, among “other kickbacks.”

Investigators also found a New Jersey driver’s license near the Pines Lake burglary scene, which they said was stolen from a vehicle in Florham Park. Taylor admitted to East Hanover police to having the items missing from the Florham Park vehicle, according to authorities.

Ali was charged with “numerous counts” of burglary and theft and was already incarcerated in Morris County Jail.

Taylor was arrested and also charged with several counts of burglary and theft.

Campbell was issued a complaint summons for conspiracy to commit burglary.
