Morristown Pair Sought After Cops Recover Marijuana, Cash

Distribution arrest warrants prepared after Mendham Township police search impounded car.

Arrest warrants are being prepared for two Morristown residents who Mendham Township police say hid marijuana packaged for sale in a vehicle.

Andres Castano and Jenna LaRoche, both 21, face distribution of marijuana charges after Mendham Township police found 213 grams of marijuana individually prepared for sale inside a red Suzuki they impounded, Sgt. Steven Bittman said.

Both Morristown residents initially were charged with being under the influence of marijuana after a traffic stop for failing to maintain a lane at 9:38 p.m. Wednesday, Bittman said. Castano, the driver, also was charged with DWI.

But police applied for a warrant to search the Suzuki after Castano refused to give township officers consent at the scene on Schoolhouse Lane, the sergeant said. The warrant was executed on Friday, and police found the drugs as well as almost $1,000 in cash, Bittman said.

Bail has been set at $40,000 with no 10 percent option for Castano, and $7,500 with no 10 percent option for LaRoche.
