Electrocuted Worker Rescued By Morristown Police Officers

MORRISTOWN, NJ - Seven Morristown police officers were honored after performing lifesaving efforts on a worker who was electrocuted while performing building renovations at Manahan Village earlier this month.

The incident took place on Aug. 14, in which members of the Morristown Bureau of Police responded to a report of an electrocution outside of 34 Flagler Street, police said.

At the scene, a male worker was found unresponsive and entangled in a ladder leaning on overhead electrical wires, police said.

After the victim’s coworkers helped police ensure that the scene was safe, Morristown police officers Kenneth Frohnapfel, Morgan Pfeil, Bruce LaFera, Paramvir Singh, Richard Rispoli, Emmanuel Margaronis, and Sergeant Brian LaBarre aided in CPR/AED efforts; the victim’s pulse was later regained, police said.

Morristown Medical Center paramedics and Atlantic Ambulance transported the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital due to his severe burns.

On Friday, Aug. 18, the Housing Authority of the Town of Morristown hosted an event at the Marion E. Sally Resident Center where the seven officers were recognized for their life-saving efforts.

“The outstanding actions of all officers undoubtedly saved the victim’s life,” Morristown Director of Public Safety Michael Corcoran said. “Our officers displayed exceptional bravery, teamwork, and resourcefulness in highlighting the unwavering commitment of the Morristown Bureau of Police in safeguarding the lives of others.”

Manahan Village is currently owned by the Morristown Housing Authority, and is undergoing extensive rehabilitation and long-term preservation of its existing 200 affordable housing units.
