NJ Cop Critically Injures Pedestrian In Car Crash, Prosecutors Say

The pedestrian required CPR before being brought to a nearby hospital, officials said.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — An off-duty Morris County Sheriff’s Officer has struck a pedestrian with their car, critically injuring them, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

On Monday, around 9 p.m., Netcong Police responded to a car crash involving a Chevrolet Tahoe and a pedestrian on Route 46 West.

Police found the pedestrian, a 46-year-old man, unresponsive at the scene and performed CPR to resuscitate him. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains hospitalized in critical condition, a Morris County Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson said.

The driver of the Tahoe was an off-duty Morris County Sheriff’s Officer, according to prosecutors. The officer was also brought to the hospital for treatment and has since been released.

The officer is fully cooperating with the investigation, authorities said.
