Nobody Rains (Or Snows) on St. Patrick's Day Parade

Mother Nature will have to throw a lot more than rain or snow to stop the Morris County St. Patrick's Day Parade.

An announcement on the St. Patrick's Day Facebook page confirmed that the parade will go on Saturday, rain or shine, barring only extreme weather causing unsafe conditions.

The parade has only been moved twice before in 34 years: once in 1993 when it was postponed by one week due to a snow state of emergency, and once in 2010 when severe weather made it unsafe for participants and spectators. The parade was held on April 10 that year.

in front of Kings on South Street. From there it will proceed down South Street and around the green, ending on Atno Avenue.

This year's parade includes 20 bands, representatives from the Police Unity Tour and local, county and state officials. There will be floats from The Seeing Eye, the Morristown and Morris Township Library, St. Patick School, Market Street Mission and local volunteer fire departments from throughout Morris County.

Morris Sheriff Edward V. Rochford will be the 34th parade grand marshal.

About 70,000 spectators are expected to attend.
