MORRISTOWN, NJ — Community members recently banded together to attempt to convince the Morristown School District board to rehire a Morristown High School teacher who cursed at a student during class.

The petition, which garnered more than 180 signatures, was started by parents of Morristown High School students who expressed concern over the dismissal of Noelle Tabor, a math teacher, and track coach.

"She is a wonderful teacher and coach, and we feel that dismissal is an extreme action. Please reconsider her dismissal and allow her to continue to make a positive impact on our children's lives," the petition's description reads.

Tabor, who has been with the school district for almost three years, according to her LinkedIn account, appealed the non-renewal of her contract during the June 12, Morris School District Board of Education meeting.

According to a report by the Morristown Green, Morristown High School Principal Mark Manning stated that re-hiring Tabor would be irresponsible after she told a student to "sit the f-word down" in front of other students.

Manning did not respond to Patch's request for comment on the incident.

The board ultimately sided with the administrators, who recommended not to rehire Tabor for the upcoming school year.

"The board reviewed the matter, and after careful consideration, they support the administration’s decision," Board President Melissa Spiotta told Patch.

Morristown High School is a four-year public high school in Morris County, that serves students in the ninth through twelfth grades from three communities. It is part of the Morris School District.
