Shooting Leaves Morris County Man Dead

A 44-year-old Florham Park resident was found with multiple gunshot wounds in Newark, authorities said.

FLORHAM PARK, NJ — An early morning shooting claimed the life of a Morris County resident on Wednesday, authorities said.

Murad Loyal, 44, of Florham Park, was found by Newark police with multiple gunshot wounds, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Loyal was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead less than an hour after authorities found him.

Officers were responding to the 100-block of Weequahic Avenue at 10:33 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting when they found Loyal.

The Essex County prosecutor's major crimes unit is investigating Loyal's death but has not apprehended any suspects in the shooting, according to the office.
