2,700 Without Power In Morristown, Morris Township

The power outages are affecting traffic lights around Morristown, police said.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Over 2,700 people are without power in Morristown and Morris Township Monday afternoon, and the outages are affecting traffic lights, police said.

A power outage has hit Morristown Monday morning, and some traffic lights are affected, police said. Multiple traffic lights are out on the south side of Morristown in the area of Rt. 202, Ann Street, and Bank Street.

Morris Street between Elm Street and the Green is down to one lane going west as a result of the power outages.

The outage is in the area of Washington Street and North Park Place, and extends into Morris Township. It's not clear what's causing the outage; Patch has reached out to JCP&L for more information.

As of 2:25 p.m., 1,074 Morristown residents and 1,742 Morris Township residents are without power, up from a combined total of 1,100. JCP&L estimates a 5 p.m. restoration time.
