‘We Have It From Here’: Morris Co. Community Mourns Firefighter, Army Veteran

A GoFundMe has been launched to support the deceased's family.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Fire officials and other members of the community have gathered together to mourn a Mount Arlington firefighter who passed away this weekend.

Diego Escobar, a freshly graduated member of the Mount Arlington Fire Department and a U.S. Army veteran, was killed in a motorcycle accident on Sunday.

The Mount Arlington Fire Department has launched a GoFundMe to assist Escobar’s family with funeral costs and other financial needs.

“It is with heavy hearts that The Mount Arlington Fire Department announces the passing of Diego Escobar,” a Mt. Arlington FD post read. “We are saddened by this news and are asking for prayers for his family during this difficult time.”

Other departments across the county have offered their condolences for their fallen brother, including the Morris Plains Fire Department and the Roxbury Fire Department.

Escobar is survived by his friends and family, including his six-month-old daughter.

“Godspeed Brother, we have it from here,” The Mount Arlington Fire Department posted.
