• 11-Vehicle Crash Closes Turnpike, College Student Abducted: NJ Weekend (patch.com) — An 11-vehicle crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Mount Laurel left six people with minor injuries and shut down traffic Friday afternoon, according to State Police. The statewide weekend roundup also highlights a fatal shooting in Jersey City, a deadly Ocean County crash, an abduction of a college student, and a serious pedestrian crash in Princeton. 
• Winning Powerball Tix Each Worth $50,000 Sold at Mt. Laurel Shoprite and Route 70 Wawa (tapinto.net) — A $50,000 Powerball ticket was sold at the ShopRite on Union Mill Road in Mount Laurel, giving one local shopper a big holiday windfall. Another $50,000 ticket was sold at a Marlton Wawa, and the Powerball jackpot has now climbed to $1.1 billion for the next drawing. Residents can still buy tickets if they want a shot at the growing prize.
• NJ nursing home owners accused of draining at least $92M as residents suffered in dangerous conditions (wobm.com) — Mount Laurel residents should know a nursing home there previously run by these owners was shut down in 2017 after losing Medicaid certification, and state investigators now accuse the same operators of massive fraud at facilities in Deptford and Hammonton. The comptroller says they diverted tens of millions from Medicaid, leaving residents in dangerously understaffed conditions, and is urging lawmakers to pass tougher financial-transparency rules for nursing homes statewide.
