36-Year-Old Newark Man Dies in Shooting

Newark police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the Friday evening shooting death of a 36-year-old Newark man.

According to officials from the prosecutor’s office, shortly after 6 p.m. police responded to a reported shooting in the area of Osborne Terrace and Nye Avenue.

Police said two men were sitting in a car at the intersection when the occupants of an approaching car began shooting at them. Following the incident, the victims drove themselves to the hospital.

One of the victims, Ahmad Rabb, died at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The matter is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Task Force. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 973-621-4586.
