A Heroic Five-Year-Old and a High School Student Gunned Down

A former Newark police officer pleaded guilty to fraud for falsely reporting his SUV stolen. Earlier this month, he also admitted he and his wife illegally obtained $60,000 in rental assistance.

A baby girl was pronounced dead after being found in a bathtub filled with about an inch of water at her foster home. The death appeared accidental, authorities said.

Louise A. Spencer School went on lockdown after three intruders rushed inside the building. The three, two men and a juvenile, told police they were fleeing from two other men. No charges were filed and the students were never in danger, officials said.
