Another Murder Adds to Newark's Bloody Tally
Gun violence claims an eighth victim in last two weeks

The city saw its third murder in as many days Monday night, Newark’s eighth homicide since late last month.
Little information was immediately available about the shooting death at Avon and Badger avenues, Newark police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
Just days after the start of summer, on June 26, a man and a woman were killed in separate incidents. A few days later, on June 29, two men were shot around 9 am, with one of the men dying instantly and another succumbing to his wounds later that day. Late on the evening of July 3, a city resident, 29-year-old Erving Munford, was shot and killed in an incident that left another man wounded.
Early Saturday morning, July 7, an Irvington man was found shot to death in his cab on Mt. Prospect Avenue, and on Sunday, a 17-year-old Brooklyn girl was gunned down as she waited outside a store.
