Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio have announced that an arrest has been made in connection with the May 26 stabbing death of Jennifer McCoy, 24, of Newark. McCoy was stabbed multiple times as she walked along South 11th Street.
Detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Task Force developed information leading them to charge Kasson Green, 25, also of Newark, with the murder of McCoy. Task Force detectives located Green in Newark this morning and he was taken into custody without incident.
In a statement, authorities declined to discuss a motive but did say the two may have known each other. Green is being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility pending his arraignment in Superior Court on $750,000 bail.
