Batman Takes On Breast Cancer Fight
Dark Knight brings Batmobile to Horizon Blue Cross-Blue Shield of New Jersey headquarters in Newark to spread word on early detection.

The fight against breast cancer got some “super” help on Sept. 28 when Gotham City’s Caped Crusader drove his Batmobile to Horizon Blue Cross-Blue Shield of New Jersey in Newark to spread the word early detection is the best “superpower” in the fight against the disease.
The Dark Knight is now taking up the fight against breast cancer by teaming up with Horizon BCBSNJ, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
UMDNJ accompanied the superhero in its Mammography in Motion digital mobile mammography van. The van was brought for the day by Horizon BCBSNJ to provide screenings for its employees and emphasize the importance of early detection.

The van uses a state-of-the-art Hologic Selenia Digital Mammography Machine.
Since its launch in 2009, the Mammography in Motion van has performed more than 5,000 mammograms at more than 25 locations in Northern New Jersey.
Work and family responsibilities can often make finding the time to get a mammogram challenging, said Executive Director of the Komen North Jersey Affiliate Jennifer Griola.
“That’s why stepping up to the plate and providing easy and convenient on-site access for their female employees during the work day turns companies like Horizon BCBSNJ into 'Superheroes,'” she added.
