Charity Basketball Game In Newark Will Raise Funds For Scholarships

The Brick City Showdown High School Basketball Classic 2023 will take place at Essex County College.

The Patrick O. Council Civic Association is a proud supporter and partner of the Brick City Showdown High School Basketball Classic 2023. The much-anticipated event will take place from December 15-17 at Essex County College.

Other partners include Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Essex County College, Newark Board of Education, Superintendent Roger León, and Prudential Financial. The Basketball Classic aims to combine the best basketball talent in and around Newark. Its goal is to unite players from different areas and to demonstrate the love of the sport. The Classic also hopes to provide an environment for students to display their athletic ability, focus on their development as a person and player, and foster a safe place for healthy competition.

All proceeds that are generated from this event will go towards providing scholarships for high school student players. Those in attendance will be directly contributing to the educational and athletic growth of promising student-athletes.

“The Patrick O. Council Civic Association is proud to support the NBOE Showdown Basketball Classic and more proud to know that all proceeds will support scholarships for Newark students,” says Councilman Patrick Council.

The Basketball Classic will welcome 30 high schools to participate, including teams from Roselle Catholic, The Patrick School, Bergen Catholic, Saint Peter’s Prep, Linden, Elizabeth, and more. It will be a great opportunity to increase recognition of the participating schools and the City of Newark.
