City Hosting Veterans Job Fair Monday

Corporations, schools will be in attendance

Newark’s GI Go Fund, along with Rutgers and the city,  is hosting a free “Job and GI Bill Fair” for military veterans Monday, March 18 from 10 am to 2 pm. The fair is being held at the Paul Robeson Center at Rutgers-Newark, 350 Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Last year’s fair saw more than 500 veterans in attendance, and organizers expect a similar turn-out for this year’s annual event, the city said.

Representatives from a wide array of public and private sector employers will be present, along with agencies providing outreach support to veterans and their families. In addition, there will be information for veterans and their families on programs and benefits for veterans, including the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Educational institutions that accept the GI Bill will also be present, including Rutgers University, Bloomfield College, Thomas Edison State College, Rider University, Princeton University and St. Peter’s University.

More than 70 businesses and organizations have registered in advance for this event, including Johnson & Johnson, Verizon NJ, PSE&G, Bank of America, Cablevision, AT&T, the New York Fire Department, Prudential Financial, Valley National Bank, United Water, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
