Police arrested a city man Wednesday who was allegedly selling illegal guns in Newark, Sgt. Ronald Glover said in a statement.

Newark police received a tip from a member of the public that a man was selling weapons from a Summit Avenue address. Police also received a description of the seller and of his vehicle, Glover said.

When police arrived at 71 Summit Ave., they quickly spotted the vehicle and stopped it, arresting Timothy Brantley, 49, after finding a defaced 9-mm handgun, Glover said. Police later obtained a search warrant for Brantley’s apartment, where they also reportedly found three more guns as well as several hollow-point bullets. Brantley has been charged with possession of a defaced weapon, possession of hollow-point bullets and several other offenses, Glover said.
