A 27-year-old city man was shot and killed near Betty Shabazz Village Monday night, said Katherine Carter, a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Robert Dale Alton was shot multiple times shortly before 8 pm. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital two hours later.
Anthony Ambrose, the chief of detectives for the prosecutor’s office, told NJ.com the investigation was still in its early stages.
