Irounbound Aquatic Center had been closed for repairs

Mayor Cory A. Booker, Department of Neighborhood and Recreational Services Director Tharien Karim Arnold, and Department of Engineering Director Medhi Mohammadish remind residents that the Ironbound Aquatic Center has been re-opened, with the completion of necessary routine maintenance. The Ironbound Recreation Center is located at 226 Rome St.

“We have completed essential maintenance to ensure that the Ironbound Center pool can continue to provide our residents with the highest quality of swimming and diving facilities this summer,” Booker said. “We thank our residents for their patience as we performed this work.”

The operating hours for the Ironbound Aquatic Center are Tuesdays through Fridays, from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The maintenance work was accomplished utilizing engineering staff, and came from the Department of Engineering Maintenance and Operating budget.

“The Ironbound Aquatic Center requires maintenance, and we accomplished this as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said Mohammadish. “We wanted to perform this maintenance now, so that the pool will be open for the summer season, to minimize inconvenience to our residents."
