Cornel West to Speak at Newark Church Next Month
Famed author, scholar and activist lecturing on racial and economic justice

Prolific author and noted public thinker Dr. Cornel West will lead a discussion on race and justice at a Newark church in February as part of Black History Month observances.
The event, co-hosted by the People’s Organization for Progress and Bethany Baptist Church, will be held at the church, 275 W. Market St., on Feb. 5 beginning at 6:30 pm.
“We are pleased and humbled to have Cornel West with us, and we anxiously await what actions will be initiated inspired by this gathering,” said Lawrence Hamm, the founding chairman of the People’s Organization for Progress.

West has written 19 books, including the bestselling Democracy Matters, and appears regularly on the Bill Maher show, The Colbert Report , CNN, CSPAN and Smiley and West on public radio.
