Death of Woman Found in River not Considered Suspicious

Body was recovered Monday night

A woman whose body was retrieved from the Passaic River Monday night does not appear to be the victim of a homicide, a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.

An autopsy performed today revealed no evidence of trauma or anything suspicious, Katherine Carter said Tuesday. The cause of her death has yet to be determined, Carter also said.

The woman’s body was found around 7:30 pm Monday night near Center Street and McCarter Highway by Newark police.
