Downtown Utility Work Expected to be Completed by Thursday Afternoon
PSEG work on power lines resulting in traffic delays along Broad Street

Repair work by utility crews downtown is expected to continue until around 4 pm Thursday afternoon, a PSEG spokesperson said today.
Work began early Wednesday to repair underground electric cables along Broad Street between Clay and Bank streets. The cables had worn out with age and need to be fixed, said Annette Hicks, a spokesperson for the utility. There have been no power disruptions as a result of the work, she added.
Traffic was snarled along the city’s main thoroughfare, however. In a Facebook post, Newark police advised motorists to use alternate routes such as McCarter Highway and Washington Street to avoid the congestion.
